While the manipulation is trivial, the story does make a valid point on the reliability of news photos. The other irony is the c.1974 Lincoln town Car limo Dear Leader is having his final ride in…

Scroll down and watch the first b&w video… give it a chance. Really. Then for a lighter side, watch his assistant’s spoof. Brilliant stuff.

From my favorite NYTimes author, Mr. David Pogue, and the results of his private photo lesson with a pro photographer. And I couldn’t agree more…

A very clever little short re: sanity →
I saw this on the Planet 5D blog today. Great piece (all shot on a Canon 5DMkII btw) that just makes you smile. OK, it made ME smile. Very clever use of edits and seamless paper. Enjoy…
Enlightening Flowchart for ALL Freelancers →
I share this from designer/illustrator Jessica Hische’s blog… I never met her, but she has hit the nail on the head with this. Comical but oh, so true. And she is living/working in my hometown… that little seaside community called Brooklyn, NY. Click on this chart and really take a look at it if you are a freelancer, or self-employed, or whatever you call yourself when you are...

Goodbye to a long lost friend →
This was my favorite film back in the day… for commercial work, it was Ektachrome for the quick ,local processing, but for personal work: Kodachrome was tops. There is no equivalent for the tonal range of a nice 120mm K-64 portrait. Alas, today it is put to rest for ever. I like the choice for the last frame of the last role to be run. RIP my old friend. Maybe later I’ll post a frame...

And, I guess it is pretty good news for professional photographers, too. Smart advertising folks have known this for years, even pre-web. So now, when all you account exec folks have a hard time convincing your budget minded clients to allocate some of that budget to professional photographers, just show them this!

Nicholas Kristof is a writer and humanitarian. To really get a sense of the man and his work, watch this HBO documentary. Meanwhile, read his column in this Sunday’s NYTimes. Fear drives people to do the dumbest things.

I love the NYTimes photo blog… They continually show great photojournalism, and this post discusses the alleged death of PJ. While some of my work is in the PJ style, it is mostly for corporate clients. The stories I am illustrating are serving a corporate mission, and often a noble one at that.
The photographers who are out in the world, finding stories, finding sponsors, and putting...
Blog Post: I thought I would share this making of the new Nissan commercial for their electric car, the Leaf. It is a great melding of digital and real. I think what impresses me the most, besides the message, is the high percentage of live footage.

Democracy?
While listening to public radio, they were running spots to promote the Gubernatorial Debates (is that REALLY an accident that the word has “guber” right up front? And who came up with that bastardization of Governor anyway.) Maine has a plethora of candidates running this year… and perhaps its the relatively small size of our state, or my prolific photo habits, but I seem to...
